Notice of Container Dwell Excess Fee

On November 11th we wrote you about the Port Fee Increase in LA/Long Beach.  There has been an update to that policy.  As a refresher or in case you missed that earlier message, in an attempt to reduce congestion on the West Coast, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach under the direction of the Biden-Harris Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force have implemented a “Container Excess Dwell Fee”.

We are pleased to report that this surcharge was originally scheduled to go into effect November 1st, 2021, and excess dwell penalties were to begin November 15th, 2021.  The fee implementation has been postponed.  At this time, the dwell fees are postponed until November 29th.  We are unsure at this time for the reasons of the postponement of the fees or whether they will be further postponed.

Our team continues to work diligently with our planning and coordinating to keep your supply chain moving efficiently during this crisis.  Unfortunately, we do not anticipate the congestion to improve during the holiday season or thru the 1st quarter of next year.  To protect your business and your clients, continue to plan and communicate with us to ensure your inventory levels remain strong!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
