Increase in German Inland Rates

Effective Dec 1, 2023, The European Parliament and German Government has agreed on a bill which increases the German tolls. The change in toll regulations is causing a significant increase of the inland rates in Germany. We have estimated this total rise to be around 50% to 60%.

The increase will take into consideration a CO² emission factor, and the toll will be calculated from the toll distance travelled by the vehicle and a toll rate in cents per kilometer, each of which includes a share for the CO₂ emissions, air pollution, noise pollution and infrastructure costs incurred. This new change will have an impact on procurement and distribution, as well as pre-and on-carriage throughout the European Union.

We are monitoring this new situation closely with our partners in Germany and we will continue to keep you informed on any new developments.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
