As expected, in the last 24 hours, the USMX and the ILA have finally begun talking and have traded counter offers related to wages. The USMX increased its offer and has also requested an extension of the current contract while they negotiate.

Now that both sides have moved off their previous hardline positions, there is hope that this could allow resumption of collective bargaining on the other issues – in an effort to reach an agreement.
