Update on Steel and Aluminum Tariffs Under Section 232
Further to our last update:
- Effective immediately (June 4, 2025, at 12:01am), the tariff rate for Steel and Aluminum products, including their derivatives under Section 232, has increased from 25% to 50% for all countries except the United Kingdom.
- UK-origin products will remain subject to the 25% rate.
- This update does not provide exemptions for goods in transit. As such, the entry date will determine the applicable duty rate, consistent with standard procedures.
- Additionally, there have been minor changes to the product scope and corresponding Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers under the Steel and Aluminum derivatives. Please refer to our website for the updated list of HTS codes. Our review indicates that these changes do not affect our client base.
- You can access our Tariff Matrix under the Tools and Resources section, located in the lower-right corner under Temporary Legislative Actions.
